2017 June Recital

Location: Bend High School Auditorium

GDSC's 2017 June Recital will take place Sunday, June 25 at Bend High School. Our Dress Rehearsal will be held Saturday, June 24, also at Bend High School. Both events are mandatory for all students who've committed to performing.

JUNE RECITAL (Sunday, June 25)

All "littles" (i.e., Creative Movement and levels "pre-", 1 and 2) will be showcased in Act I, which will start at 4:30 p.m.

All "bigs" (i.e., all "Teen/Adult" classes, levels 3 and 4, as well as company/competition and some intermediate/advanced-level tech classes) will be showcased in Act II, which will start at approximately 5:30 p.m.

Act I performers will need to arrive at 4:00 p.m.  Procedure: Act I performers will not be allowed to watch Act I; however, they will be allowed to watch Act II with their parents. All Act I performers must report backstage at 4:00 p.m. ready in costume, hair and makeup. Once parents have paid in the lobby, they may then enter the auditorium and escort their child backstage to their designated volunteer. Once Act I has completed, parents will then be able to retrieve their child from their designated volunteer and either depart or return to their seats to watch the remainder of the show. As a reminder, parents , friends or family are not allowed backstage during the show.

Act II performers will need to arrive at 5:00 p.m. Procedure: Act II performers will not be allowed to watch Act I or Act II of the recital. All Act II performers, however, will be able to watch the show in its entirety during the dress rehearsal. All Act II performers must report backstage at 5:00 p.m. ready in costume, hair and makeup. As a reminder, parents, friends or family are not allowed backstage during the show. Once Act II has completed, parents will then be able to retrieve their child from backstage.

DRESS REHEARSAL (Saturday, June 24)

The entire rehearsal will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bend High School on Saturday, June 24. 

Act I performers (all "littles" a part of  Creative Movement and "pre-" , 1 and 2 levels), as well as Act I volunteers, must arrive at 10:00 a.m. sharp. Dress rehearsal will begin at 10:30 a.m. sharp. With the finale bow, Act I's rehearsal is estimated to end at about 11:30 a.m.; however, please be aware, this time could change due to the nature of rehearsal conflicts and re-runs. Please be patient with the rehearsal process. Procedure: When you arrive at 10:00 a.m., child in hair, makeup and costume, please take him/her backstage to their class volunteer. All volunteers will be ready with signs listing each class name. Parents will then be free to sit in the auditorium and watch Act I's dress rehearsal while our fabulous volunteers help each class with stage loading, unloading and quick changes for any "littles" in multiple dances during Act I, as parents are not allowed backstage. All Act I performers are required to stay backstage for Act I's dress rehearsal; however, they are more than welcome to watch Act II's dress rehearsal with their parents. Once Act I dress rehearsal has finished, parents will then be allowed backstage to retrieve their child. 

Act II performers (all "bigs" a part of Teen/Adult classes, levels 3 and 4, as well as all company/competition classes and some intermediate/advanced-level tech classes) must arrive at 11:30 a.m. sharp. Act II dress rehearsal is estimated to begin at 12:00 p.m. With the finale bow, Act II's rehearsal is estimated to end at about 2:00 p.m.; however, please be aware this time could change due to the nature of rehearsal conflicts and re-runs. Please be patient with the rehearsal process. Procedure: All Act II performers may watch Act I and Act II's dress rehearsal as long as they are prepared for all class numbers. Act II performers must stay for the entire Act II dress rehearsal in order to run through the finale bow. As in Act I, parents will not be allowed backstage. Parents and/or students who are concerned about quick changes, please sign up here or on Studio A's door for a GDSC volunteer. List student name and the classes he/she is involved in for Act II. We will assign a volunteer once we have received this information.

Ace of Hearts will be filming this year's June Recital. Live action shots will also be taken--stay tuned for purchasing information after the recital. On the day of the dress rehearsal, Loving Heart Photography will be available for individual portraits for those who could not make GDSC's costume photo shoot.

General admission will run $14 per person for all ages; however, if you have a child that is 2 and under that can sit on an adult's lap and/or chill in a car seat, they are free. Otherwise, any seat that is occupied must be accounted for via the $14 general admission payment. Online purchasing is finally OPEN (please account for an additional service fee charged by TuTuTix)! Click here to get your tickets in advance. Tickets can also be purchased at the door with cash/check on the day of the recital. Please note: Unfortunately, we do have to charge all patrons (with the exception of recital performers and any child 2 and under not occupying a seat) who are watching the show (i.e., grandparents, parents, siblings, etc.), as we must cover the costs of the auditorium rental for two days, program printing fees, staff salary for working this event, as well as payment towards outside sources for set-up, tear-down and lighting for the show. Though this charge may seem superfluous to some folks, it is a necessity in order to put on this huge event. As a side note, many other studios charge recital fees in addition to recital tickets--we do not. And despite some recital performers participating in only one act, we encourage all families to stay for the entirety of the recital. Thank you so much for your understanding!
